THE LESLIE GENTIL PRIZE
Art 1. The "Leslie Gentil Prize" is dedicated to clinical or basic research related to skin cancers, in priority melanoma.
Art 2. The Prize is intented to encourage post-doctoral clinical or fundamental research undertaken by a young investigator working in a university of the European Union including the UK.
Art 3. The candidate must hold a doctoral degree in medicine, pharmacy or biomedical sciences and be less than 40 years old.
Art 4. The scientific contribution of the candidate shall be submitted in French or in English as follows:
- The importance of the accomplished research described in maximum 3 double-spaced typed A4 pages, including references to the most relevant publications (no more than 10) of which the candidate is (co-)author;
- an abstract summarizing of the work (maximum 250 words);
- the reprints of the publications corresponding to the work submitted;
- a detailed Curriculum Vitae together including the full list of publications (with indication of the 5 most important publications);
- two letters of recommendation.
Art 5. The application will be submitted by electronic mail to the "Secrétaire perpétuel de l'Académie royale de Médecine de Belgique" at the following email address: secretaire.perpetuel(at)armb.be. The deadline for submission is January 09, 2023.
Art 6. The Prize of an amount of 5.000,- € will be awarded every three years starting in 2020 under the auspices of the "Académie royale de Médecine de Belgique".
Art 7. The jury will be composed of three members of the "Académie royale de Médecine de Belgique". A non-member of the "Académie royale de Médecine de Belgique" may be designated to participate in the jury because of his/her particular competence in the field (see Art 1).
Art 8. The members of the jury will be independent of the candidate and will not have participated, directly or indirectly, to any of the works submitted for the Prize.
Art 9. The jury will decide on all questions regarding the acceptability of the applications submitted as well as on the awarding of the Prize. The right of appeal shall not be granted.
The deliberations and voting of the jury will be kept secret.
The President of the jury will write a short report detailing the decision of the jury to be communicated to the "Secrétaire perpétuel".
Art 10. The Prize cannot be split. However, if another work is considered as being especially deserving, the jury may grant the medal of the Academy as an encouragement to the author.
Art 11. A report on the attribution of the Prize shall be made public by a member of the jury during a ceremony organized by the "Académie royale de Médecine de Belgique".
Art 12. The "Leslie Gentil Prize" will be announced with the other prizes organized by the "Académie royale de Belgique".
